[laughter] what i wonder is, we do our dialing between 5:00 and 9:00 p.m. on the west coast, how do you do a national poll tax everybody is going to bed -- on the east coast, how do you do a national poll? everybody is going to bed. among undecideds -- look, the first decision they make is, do i want to vote for barack obama? he is the incumbent, the guy in charge for the last four years. if they are undecided, the answer has been no. there is something they are concerned about with mitt romney, which is why they are undecided. in 10 states, two weeks ago, there were 6% of the voters undecided. that is a pretty significant amoun

romney has a good night, but no evidence of changing the game. i agree with them completely on the first that romney had a good night. i think we will have to see a minute whether it changed the game. walmart sponsored their walmart focus groups with momentum analysis, a democratic polling firm, one of glen's partners together. they suggested a monster lot of walmart moms, it was a win for romney. the people in the groups were divided between a win for romney or a tie. on the other hand, it said they were disappointed with the president's performance. they do not think he made the case for how another four years would be better. they made the point that neither one of these guys really connected with voters on a personal level, but i think romney did a superior job of debating it. we will be seeing a lot of reviews over the next few days. i think the key thing for us to watch, no question mitt romney won the debate. how much does this change things? in national polls he will get a few points out of this. the more relevant. is that, number one, do

last night my reaction to the debate was where is the substance mr. romney? is that a good debate just throwing around a lot of comments. and i didn't think the spt taking credit for some of the things he's doing. and the second comment i is minority voters are scared of the i.d. i would like to see if you would comment on how you're polling and if you're involved with any of the hispanic leadership about making sure the vote gets out? >> i disagree with the first part. i thought it was a more subs stan tive debate i've seen in a while. and i was watching some of the meters and when romney was going through his five point plan, his numbers went straight up. i thought -- i don't think it was vague, i thought it was a lot of substance. >> it was the most substive debate i can remember in terms of plans in a long time. maybe the bar is set so low it's not hard to get over but i was kind of surprised. >> i guess what is substance these days, especially in the modern debate or communications? i guess my summation would be you had a very good sense of these two yes

last wednesday night, i thought governor romney did a great job. [cheers and applause] it is clear to me that he worked hard during his practice rounds to make sure that he was on the ball. the president had some inaccuracies. governor romney was able to point those out respectfully and politely in light of the facts -- and lay the facts for the american people. come back to the economy and come back to the economy. why? this is an election about get our economy to work again. mitt romney has created thousands of jobs. he understands but the big government can do to destroy jobs. having him out there with his plan and talking about his plan is exactly what needs to happen. or as i like is a comment he made the sale that night in a big way. the night that i heard mr. romney's comments about the 47% on msnbc, i almost fell out of my chair. i'm going to school every night for almost two years in the hopes of trying to improve my family's life, you know? and obviously that would help the economy. those comments? this is a window into our life. i'm a democrat. i will probably vote for the president, but i like mitt romney. i think he's a good guy. which president would he be? which one would he be? is he going to be the one who said it's probably not $5 trillion, but it's pretty close? i think rebecca would agree. i think when he flips to people like me coming on my television screen in my living room, i do not know who this man is. now he apologizes for the 47%? the media does not even talk about it. like i said, i think he's a good guy, but on the face, he seems like a clear a liar in the face of the american people. host: let's go to alan viard. does romney have a problem explaining his tax policy and getting clarity on his vision and not have it stuck in the political fray? guest: i think governor romney did say a few
